It is essential that you use the HARD parts of your head against the SOFT tissue 

of your opponent.

To practice be sideways on against your opponent.
Ensure that your striking side does the following:
 
Lift the shoulder as high as possible
Keeping your STRIKING side arm loose and dangling towards the floor
Drop your head down towards your shoulder, till it touches
Ensure that you are looking at the floor and NOT at your opponent
Your NON striking side hand comes up to help protect the front of your face.
 
As you step into your opponent, you PUSH off from the floor with your BACK leg, 

driving your bodyweight forwards, towards your opponent.
 
Your FRONT foot acts as a pivot, over which your WHOLE bodyweight 

goes crashing towards your opponent.
 
You WILL and indeed SHOULD fall off balance into your opponent.

This is absolutely fine, because he WILL be sent backwards at enormous rate of knots.
 
This enables you to advance towards for any follow up strikes should they be required.
